THINGS THAT INSPIRED ME ON MY VISIT TO LONDON

Yesterday I visited London as part of my uni course. Our task was to wonder round central, gathering imagery that supported our given trend which we are producing a presentation around. Whilst walking round London gathering our information I made sure to keep my eyes peeled for interiors and designs that I felt could benefit me and give me inspiration for future work.

We took a visit to liberty which we thought would support our trend as it has all sorts of designers and clothes in. Though I made sure to take pictures of my trend in liberty, something that I was particularly drawn to was the interior and the different designs each designer had to their area. I was really drawn to the fun quirky ideas like using lighting and signs above the collections, adding quite a fun fair retro idea to it. Though I was also drawn to the simplistic ideas surrounding the designer, for example Isabel Marant whom's work is known for its sheek style therefore this was reflected in the interior, sticking to simple writing paired with a marble wall design.

Carnaby Street is by far my all time favourite place in London to shop. Whilst walking round i came across a shop, which at first just looks like a shop full of bright beautiful flowers covering the walls and ceiling. Though as you look carefully you can start to see shoes popping out through the flower which continue the floral theme. I have never seen a shops interior decorated to this extent, which is why I liked it so much. the interiors bright design continues onto the outside of the building which is pained in a turquoise teal colour.

House of Holland SS17

House of Holland will stage four free-to-attend retrospective catwalk shows at the V&A on Friday 21 October to celebrate the brand’s 10th anniversary.

Full of frilly, feminine garments his tea party inspired collection for SS17 is full of gingham, frills, bright colours, flares in an almost picnic blanket like style. This collection features loads of clashing patterns and colours. A lot of the pieces involved some sort of mesh design, breaking up the block colours and patterns. His collection ranges from beautiful floral skirts to grunge mesh featuring the contrasting flower designs. His whole muse for the collection was the idea of having afternoon tea in the park with a picnic, a fun quirky catwalk full of extravagant ideas.

KYLIE JENNER ROCKS LATEX LINGERIE FOR COMPLEX MAGAZINE SHOOT

kylie Jenner has recently debuted her cover and photoshoot for Complex magazine. Complex magazine has always been a place where i have drawn inspiration from. This shoot was something which really jumped out at me. Though the raw images of kylie are beautiful, the illustrations on top of the images have created a whole new concept. The artwork was done by Takashi Murakami, He is a japenese artist who works in fine art media as well as was we consider as commercial media such as fashion and merchandise. There has been an almost futuristic approach to this photoshoot, almost alien like. She has been dressed head to toe in nude latex. The photoshoot has quite a sexualised feel surrounding kylie Jenner due to the nude aspect combined with the latex. Though a fun aspect has juxtaposed this (illustration) and has turned the whole sexualised aspect on its head and created a piece of art.

GUCCI GUCCI GUCCI

AUTUMN 2016

While looking into this years up coming trends, scrolling through tumblr and various other websites, I came across a series of images from Gucci's ' pre fall ' range. Focusing around embroidery combined with clothing they have created a stunning collection. Sticking to nature as their muse, the clothes have such a fun yet beautiful element to them. Such detail allows for the combination of fashion and art to be brought together. The clashing colours merging together and the animals appearing through the embroidery allow for an almost glamorous mystical idea to arise. It is inevitable that this style will appear in the main high street stores in the upcoming months.

Maison Margiela Spring/Summer 2017 Resort Collection

I have always had a love for fashion, but since starting My fashion communication and promotion course I have increased my continuing search for strange intriguing imagery that is currently being produced in the fashion industry. I have always been excited by fashion or makeup photography which focused around fashion and the clothes. When I was scrolling through the looks that vogue posted from fashion week I was particularly drawn to that of Maison Margiela. Though I was not just drawn to the clothes I was more drawn to the overall visual execution of the images. Each image having a theme such as yellow or pink and then the theme continues from the background to the model and the clothes. Coming from being a photography and Art student, these images were ones which i was extremely drawn to. The models seem to be working as if there is no camera, gazing into the distance rather than posing into the camera. Due to the high level of focus that needs to be projected onto the clothes, this style of posing allows a very effective image.

First FCP TASK

I have recently started university at Nottingham
trent where I study Fashion Communication and Promotion. We were given a warm up task in the first week of uni where we were given a list of sentences, giving us hints and tips of
where we were meant to go and take pictures of all over the city. This gave me the opportunity to explore the streets of Nottingham where i was able to find and discover unique shops off of side streets.
While exploring this shop I decided to pick up a magazine called Beauty Papers which I thought could supply me with inspiration for my future projects. The pages are full of inspiring creative imagery, primarily focusing on beauty.
