Lily Rose depp....

Style file :

You have to admit we've always dreamed of being the son or daughter of a film icon. when we were first introduced to Vanessa Paradis and Johnny Depp's daughter Lily Rose Depp the world was instantly captivated, and Depp quickly became one of the most sort after young talents of her generation. At her age she already has four feature films under her belt, as well as being a Chanel ambassador and Vogue cover girl. She is one of Hollywood's effortlessly beautiful young it girls.

She was born in Paris to a Chanel spokesmodel, so it is undeniable that Lily-Rose Depp knows her way around a bit of couture. she is definitely one to look for in 2017.

YASMIN SEWELL

While scrolling through vogue.com I decided to take a look at the videos. I came across an interview with style.com's creative director Yasmin Sewell. She grew up in Australia and has always been interested in fashion. She shaved her head as a teen and says from then on her style changed. In the video we get a tour round her wardrobe, which is filled with high fashion designer pieces. Each item she pulls out is something so unique and different to the next.

STYLE ICON :

CHER HOROWITZ

Since watching clueless years and years ago it has been one of my favourite films of all time. I think we can all agree that it is a film largely focused on the fashion. As the years went on and i became more and more interested in fashion, it became very apparent how important fashion was to the film. It is safe to say it is a classic and everyone who is interested in fashion without a doubt knows of clueless. Cher Horowitz is a character, a teen in 90's America. we are continuously being subjected to 90's grunge fashion as well as a more glamorous version, shown by Cher A privileged 16 year old living in Beverly Hills. The film and its outfits are so flawlessly put together you can't help but sit in admiration. Throughout the film we were continuously fed plaid co-ords, dungarees, crisp shirts and berets.

For my summative project at uni i was given the trend post retro, this has encouraged me to look through older films, taking into consideration the fashion of that era, more than i did before. Clueless was a film that immediately came to mind when researching into retro trends. while watching this for the 100th time i became more and more infatuated by the fashion and it became apparent that this was something i would use to influence my project.

Ashley: Why 2017 Is The Year Of Beauty Beyond Size

With 2016 coming to an end, it is being recognised that it has definitely been a year of changes among the modelling industry. Though not completely, we are now being continuously projected a more healthy idea of what models these days look like. Ashley graham is a plus size model whom has come to our attention these past few years. It has been seen as groundbreaking how being yourself, displaying all of your curves and imperfections is now sort after. In a world fuelled by filters and the pursuit of perfection, it seems like keeping it real has become avant-garde. A girl like Ashley Graham being the cover girl of january vogue is changing the lives of people all round the world. She is inspiring. plus size models are feeling more valuable in the fashion industry. it is a barrier breaking cover. living in a world full of judgement, either too thin or too skinny it is hard to break the worlds perception of beauty. Starting the 2017 with a cover like this is perfect to make a deep impact.

VICTORIA SECRET SHOW 2016

The time of year has come again for the annual Victoria secret show. I have been watching it for years  now. It is so much more than a simple fashion show. It may have started out as simply women walking down a catwalk in underwear, but it has now evolved into one if not the biggest shows of the year. Millions tune in to watch it. This year big names will be walking the show along side the house hold names, such as Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid and Bella Hadid. performers such as Taylor Swift, Rihanna and Fall out boy have performed alongside the models on the catwalk. this is such a highly publisised event that you cannot help but to be enraptured by the beautiful faces and the extravagant costumes.

Beautiful Strangers FT. Makeup

We were given a particular editorial to look at, mind mapping which words came to mind and what we thought inspired this shoot. We came up with the idea that it seemed quite futuristic. This was due to the clothing which involves a lot of cut outs and prints, as-well as the lighting which gives the images a sense of instability. our five words we picked were futuristic, movement, avant- grade, sculptural and instability.

This whole editorial shoot really inspired me. I really liked the overall concept and feel to the images. The title 'beautiful strangers' is something which is highly reflected in the images. The model used has quite an androgynous look, a boyish yet still beautiful feel. The word strangers I think has almost eerie and weird connotations surrounding it. This forced me to think about the idea of beautiful people that we don't know 'beautiful strangers'. we would never stop and compliment a complete stranger, someone we don't know therefore the idea of there being no relationship between the viewer and the model is valid. I think this could be due to the lack of interaction between the model and the camera, perhaps unposed accidental shots, giving the idea of strangers. We only see whats on the outside at first glance.
We thought this shoot resonated that of avant- grade fashion. A new and experimental way of producing an editorial shoot. when looking into designers of Avant-garde fashion the designer Yohji Yamamoto came up. I really admire and like the idea surrounding Avant - grade fashion and the way designers have changed the ideas in the fashion design industry. Designers are redefining the japenese avant- grade culture.

Mario sorrenti is A self-taught photographer, Mario Sorrenti was born in Naples, Italy, in 1971, into an artistic family.Mario Sorrenti exploded on to the fashion scene in the 1990s, largely due to his sexually charged editorial work, published in American and Italian Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. He told Interview

"I'm pretty open. I'm not afraid of men. I'm not afraid of women. I'm not afraid of sex and

sexuality.
It's part of me, and it comes out in the photograph. It's as if at that moment when

I'm taking pictures, I'm not a man and I'm not a woman. If I see a moment that seems true

to me, that seems honest, whether it's female or male, it's part of me as well.”

           Hair By Sam McKnight

when looking through catwalk shows and photoshoots, one thing i am always drawn to are mainly the hair and makeup side to the shoot rather than the fashion.
while doing research into celebrity or most sought after hair stylists i came across that of Sam Mcknight.
As you can see his work usually takes a high fashion approach. He has shot with vogue and Harpers Bazaare. He has styled supermodels such as Kate moss, Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid. Sam McKnight has been instrumental in helping to create some of the most iconic images in in fashion history. he has worked with Princess Diana’s producing her short, slicked back style as well as Madonna’s Bedtime Stories album cover and Tilda Swinton. McKnight’s displays a wide range of fashion movements and hairstyles, he displays the transformational nature of hair within the image.
He has worked on many fashion editorial shoots including over 190 Vogue covers, he was worked with international fashion designers such as Chanel and Vivienne Westwood.
He has put on his first exhibition called 'Hair by Sam McKnight' which is the first exhibition to display and show the importance of hair and the vital role of the stylist plays within the fashion industry.

KENZO X H&M: EVERYTHING WE KNOW SO FAR...

H&m and the designer kenzo have collaborated together to create a range of clothes full of extravogent colours, patterns and styles. we all know kenzo for his printed t-shirts so when he came out with this it did somewhat surprise me a little. Though not my cup of tea it certainly seems a lot more high end than high street in my eyes.  Involving a lot of animal print such as leopard print, available to multiple colours and also geometric shapes and patterns clashing against bright neons.

The Campaign Features Chance The Rapper, Iman and rapper Suboi, the excitement and anticipation surrounding who will front the campaign has been just as highly anticipated as the collection. The collection hits stores today so there is no doubt we will be drowned with more images of this collection in due course. The campaign was shot by fashion and music image maker Jean-Paul Goude. The images themselves take on his signature hand-made, DIY style, cutting and reassembling the prints like a collage to express the energy of the collection.

Though as I said this collection isn't something I would perhaps queue up and get, it is a collection which without a doubt is extremely creative and beautiful in a sense that the images and clothing are so rich and full that you can't help but to at least explore the collection.

THINGS THAT INSPIRED ME ON MY VISIT TO LONDON

Yesterday I visited London as part of my uni course. Our task was to wonder round central, gathering imagery that supported our given trend which we are producing a presentation around. Whilst walking round London gathering our information I made sure to keep my eyes peeled for interiors and designs that I felt could benefit me and give me inspiration for future work.

We took a visit to liberty which we thought would support our trend as it has all sorts of designers and clothes in. Though I made sure to take pictures of my trend in liberty, something that I was particularly drawn to was the interior and the different designs each designer had to their area. I was really drawn to the fun quirky ideas like using lighting and signs above the collections, adding quite a fun fair retro idea to it. Though I was also drawn to the simplistic ideas surrounding the designer, for example Isabel Marant whom's work is known for its sheek style therefore this was reflected in the interior, sticking to simple writing paired with a marble wall design.

Carnaby Street is by far my all time favourite place in London to shop. Whilst walking round i came across a shop, which at first just looks like a shop full of bright beautiful flowers covering the walls and ceiling. Though as you look carefully you can start to see shoes popping out through the flower which continue the floral theme. I have never seen a shops interior decorated to this extent, which is why I liked it so much. the interiors bright design continues onto the outside of the building which is pained in a turquoise teal colour.
